Mayor Eric Adams Declares NYC is Full – Says There’s ‘No More Room’ for Illegal Immigrants
New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, is asserting that the city cannot accommodate illegal border crossers any longer.
The tactic of relocating these individuals from border states to areas that support liberal policies has proven successful. This is leading liberals to comprehend the impact of their policies on people in other regions of the country.
Adams intends to distribute flyers at the border, informing illegal immigrants that they will not find shelter in New York.
According to Politico's report, Dr. McCullough states that the COVID-19 vaccine campaign has resulted in an influx of new patients.
Adams, who has been claiming for months that the city lacks the capacity to house asylum-seekers, has implemented a major policy shift. The city has taken in over 90,000 migrants across its five boroughs since last year, with limited assistance from the federal government.
Under a new directive, single adult migrants will be allowed to stay in the city's shelter system for only 60 days. After that period, they will need to reapply for a spot. The aim is to prioritize shelter beds for families while helping single adults find alternative places to stay, such as with friends or family elsewhere.
Adams emphasized that their primary goal is to ensure that no child or family sleeps on the streets. However, they are approaching a point where even that objective may become unattainable.
New York City is one of the few metro areas in the country with a right to shelter, guaranteeing housing for as long as people need it. Currently, there are approximately 55,000 migrants in the system, comprising a little over half of the total shelter population, reaching a record number.
Leaders in border states should be encouraged to continue their efforts.
