Rep. James Comer says he ‘can’t track down’ top informant in Biden family probe

Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, has disclosed that a key informant who was assisting congressional investigators in their probe of President Biden’s family over allegations of foreign influence-peddling has disappeared.

Mr. Comer and other top-ranking GOP lawmakers have accused Mr. Biden's family, including his son Hunter, of receiving millions of dollars from foreign entities in China and Romania, implying that Mr. Biden may have been influenced by foreign sources while he was vice president.

While the Republican members of the committee have accused the Biden family of enriching themselves from Mr. Biden's power, they have not alleged that the foreign payments to Mr. Biden's family were illegal. Mr. Comer refused to provide evidence, but insinuated that the White House was responsible for the informant's absence. He also suggested that the informant was in the "spy business" and did not "make a habit of being seen a lot."

Mr. Comer further disclosed that of the ten people identified with relevant knowledge about the Bidens, nine of them were either in jail, in court, or missing.

Last week, Mr. Comer's panel subpoenaed the FBI to provide a whistleblower report alleging that the then-vice president was involved in a bribery scheme with a foreign national. However, the FBI refused to comply, citing the need to protect "confidential human sources and information."

While the Democrats have focused on investigating former President Donald Trump's alleged public corruption, they have not given the same attention to the accusations against Mr. Biden. They have largely dismissed the findings of the House Republicans, arguing that Mr. Comer has not provided any evidence that Mr. Biden personally profited or altered any public position.

Democrats on the Oversight Committee have accused Republicans of attempting to damage Mr. Biden politically, suggesting that they should instead focus on Mr. Trump's children and their profits from the family's private businesses while their father was president.

White House spokesman, Ian Sams, criticized Mr. Comer's inability to name a single Joe Biden policy that he believed had been unduly influenced.
