Biden Administration invests $1.9M in “disinformation” education: documents reveal details

The Biden administration has plans to spend close to two million dollars of taxpayer money on a program that will provide media education training to educators, media professionals, librarians, government employees, and information specialists in foreign countries. The program is aimed at equipping them with the necessary skills to combat "disinformation." The Washington Examiner obtained grant documents revealing that the $1.9 million grant is part of the American Spaces Digital Literacy and Training Program under the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the State Department.

The American Spaces Digital Literacy and Training Program aims to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries, as well as embed diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in all aspects of its work. The program will award the money to an American institution of higher education or nonprofit organization to create a "digital literacy" program in at least 16 countries in Europe and Central Asia. The deadline for applications is June 7.

According to a spokesperson for the State Department, disinformation is a "priority issue around the world," and the grant will help achieve US foreign policy goals. The department has stated that the grant process is administered in compliance with applicable federal law and policies, including those related to bias and preferential treatment. However, the department declined to comment on the selection process for this particular request for proposals and potential awards and implementation and deployment strategies.

Rep. Glenn Grothman, a member of the Oversight and Accountability Committee, has criticized the Biden administration's decision to fund the media education program. He expressed concern that President Biden, who he claims has a history of being detached from the truth himself, may not be trusted to determine what is truth and what is fiction.
