Democrat congressman acknowledges it's 'clear' Hunter Biden broke the law: 'Should be held accountable'
During an interview on Friday, a Democratic congressman admitted that Hunter Biden's actions clearly violated the law.
Connecticut Congressman Jim Himes criticized Republicans on Friday night, but he also acknowledged the legal troubles of the first son.
During an appearance on MSNBC, Himes made a noteworthy statement that no Republican member of Congress ever uttered during the Trump administration: Hunter Biden should be prosecuted if he indeed broke the law. Himes asserted that it seems evident that Hunter may have violated tax laws and potentially possessed a handgun illegally. He emphasized that accountability is essential in such cases.
Himes pointed out the inconsistency of Republicans not holding former President Donald Trump accountable during his indictment, while still acknowledging that Hunter Biden should face consequences if he exploited his father's influence to commit crimes.
The Democratic congressman clarified that there is currently no evidence suggesting President Biden colluded with his son on any criminal activities. However, he implied that any evidence that emerges should be taken seriously.
Hunter Biden, who remains under federal investigation, pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor tax counts for willful failure to pay federal income tax. He had been set to plead guilty as part of a deal, but the plea agreement collapsed.
The White House expressed its support for President Biden's son throughout the investigation, emphasizing that Hunter Biden's legal matters are a private concern for him and that the President and First Lady love and stand by their son. The case was handled independently by the Justice Department under a prosecutor appointed by former President Trump.
